Lab Adventure
Project Details
I made a 4-8 minute adventure level in Unreal Engine 5 using blockmesh/blockout over the course of a week. The level is set in a flooded apocalyptic city, starting on a flooded street that leads to an alleyway with an underground research facility. Inside the facility, parts are flooded, blocking access to certain areas. To progress, you need to turn valves to release the water. There are a few puzzles to solve to figure out which valves to turn. For revision control, I used Perforce to back up my work and revert to previous versions when necessary.

Level Breakdown
Start
At the start of my level, players find themselves in a flooded, apocalyptic city inspired by New York. The streets are flooded, and has two zombies lurking nearby, serving as both a threat and a guide, subtly directing the player toward an alleyway.
Upon entering the alley, players encounter a locked door and a partially open garage. Exploring the garage reveals a crowbar, which can be used to break open the locked door. Inside is the entrance to an underground research facility.

Focal Point
The player enters a reception area with a flooded down staircase. To proceed, they explore a utility room, turn a valve, and drain the water, granting access to the lower level.
In the security room below, a locked door blocks the path, but a security badge on a desk unlocks it. The player descends further into a flooded hallway filled with floating debris, a broken elevator, and rooms on both sides. A red pipe connects to both rooms, each containing a valve.
Turning both valves raises the water level, allowing the player to reach a vent in the left room and continue forward.

End
When you exit the vent, the player drops into a computer room that leads to a hallway. In the hallway, it has 2 other rooms, one is a flooded computer room, and the other is a room filled with nine valves connected to various colored pipes.
To drain the water, the player must trace the pipes in the hallway, identifying the correct valve combinations. Once the water is cleared, the player enters the drained computer room to retrieve the goal. A USB stick required to complete the mission.
